Orion Fx is a 5-axis multi process horizontal machining center series developed on the proven Orion HMC platform. It is designed to balance precision and speed for complex parts machining, with a production-focused architecture that supports fewer setups, repeatable results, and competitive cycle times.
Orion Fx models include Fx5500, Fx8000, and Fx10000. The series is applied across aerospace, automotive, medical, energy, tooling, mould making, and general engineering where complex 5-axis geometry and stable process performance matter.
Orion Fx is designed for simultaneous 5-axis machining, enabling complex geometry machining with fewer re-clamps and fewer alignment errors. This supports better feature-to-feature accuracy, improved consistency, and more complete machining in a single setup.
Orion Fx emphasizes thermo-friendly design and thermally symmetric structures, supported by multiple cooling systems. In practical production terms, thermal control helps reduce drift during warm-up and long cycles, supporting more stable accuracy across shifts.
The series uses a motorized (integral) spindle with HSK taper options, supporting stable tool interface performance for demanding machining. Model-dependent spindle taper options include HSK A63 and HSK A100.
Orion Fx includes a continuous direct-drive rotary table and a continuous swivel axis with fine resolution. This supports smooth multi-axis motion, accurate indexing, and better surface finish on complex 5-axis toolpaths.
The platform highlights servo-driven systems for higher reliability and productivity, including tool magazine and tool changer capability. This supports more efficient production rhythm when parts require many tools and repeated tool changes.
Orion Fx is designed with chip handling and washing strategies to reduce chip accumulation during long programs. This helps protect surface finish, stabilise tool life, and support more predictable unattended or semi-attended operation.
