CL 500 is a state-of-the-art 5-axis (or 4+1) vertical machining center developed by BFW for modern manufacturing teams that need precision, reliability, and competitive performance without unnecessary complexity. Built for continuous machining and complex part production, CL 500 supports fewer setups, better feature-to-feature accuracy, and faster throughput in applications where multi-face machining is the norm.
CL 500 is positioned to deliver performance comparable to high-end competitors while maintaining a quality-and-affordability balance that makes sense for real production environments.
CL 500 is designed for complex component machining using 5-axis (or 4+1) strategies. This reduces re-clamping, improves alignment between faces and features, and supports more complete machining in a single setup—helpful for parts that would otherwise require multiple fixtures and repeated datum work.
CL 500 combines roller-type guideways for linear axes with precise ball screws, absolute linear scales, and compensation functions (backlash and pitch error). In practical terms, this supports repeatable positioning and stable geometry—especially important in production where the real target is consistency across long runs, multiple operators, and shift-to-shift handovers.
For continuous machining, chip and coolant control matters. CL 500 includes a basic coolant system with bed wash and flood, combined with a scraper-type chip conveyor setup. This helps reduce chip build-up, supports cleaner cutting conditions, and keeps the machining zone more stable over longer cycles.
CL 500 is configured with a disk-type tool magazine as part of its production approach. Tool automation supports multi-operation machining with less manual intervention, reducing non-cut time and helping maintain a steady shopfloor rhythm.
CL 500 is supplied with a Siemens CNC control platform (Siemens 828D SL) and a 15-inch colour LCD display as part of the standard configuration. The platform also references CAD model post-processor support, which helps streamline the CAM-to-machine workflow for complex 5-axis toolpaths.
CL 500 includes a production-oriented standard package designed to support stability, repeatability, and day-to-day usability.
